PAP MPs pass motion to replace vacant NCMP seat, Daniel Goh gets to enter Parliament

Yesterday, PAP MPs have given the motion to replace the now-vacant NCMP seat (after Lee Li Lian turned down the offer) that was initially raised by the Workers’ Party. Daniel Goh, another WP candidate at the GE2015, is slated to take up the seat.

The WP MPs decided to abstain from the vote after PAP’s Party Whip Chan Chun Sing amended the motion, adding in the phrase “political manoeuvring” to describe it. WP Secretary-General Low Thia Khiang opposed to the amendment and said that the Workers’ Party was just acting in accordance to what is provided in the Constitution, that says Parliament can decided to fill a vacant NCMP seat.
